Fox Cubs Return

After suffering a sudden drop in numbers over the last month, it is heartening to see that, through the hard work of the girls that remained and the encouragment from Mandy Warren (Foxes Captain), the numbers are picking up week by week with both returning and new players.

The training arrangements of warming up with the FOXES, directed by their new and very experienced coach, Graham, followed by a training session from not only Clive but a senior team centre every 3-4 weeks seems to be rebuilding the girls enthusiasm and commitment. Hopefuly this is the start of a reborn Cub team which will keep growing in strength.

 FOX CUBS BATTLE ON

  Fox Cubs 12 - Nomads 45

Fakenham Fox Cubs played their very first home match on Sunday 7th December 2008 against a Nomad team from Holt, Swaffham, Wymondham and Diss.

The Cubs got a quick fire lesson in the first half in rucking and ball handling, Only their hard tackling and solid defence kept the half time score to 0-35. After an insperational talk from Mandy Warren, Foxes Captain, at half time the Cubs ran out like a new team for the second half. A well worked move consisting of hard and fast ball handling, with the ball going through what looked like every players hands, ended in a try from Poppy. Next Amber broke through the Nomads defence in her own 22 and sprinted all the way to the try line leaving the opposition with no one able to stop her, Kim converted the try. the Nomads came back with two more trys unconverted leaving the cubs winning the second half 12-10. Well done to the whole team.
